Become an AdAmi Padi

By becoming a regular giver to the AdAmi Project, you will be helping young mothers to build brighter futures in Sierra Leone

Become an AdAmi Padi and help to change lives

The AdAmi Padi programme gives those who donate monthly a closer look at the work of the project, and further insight into the stories of those young mothers we support. ‘Padi’ means friend in Krio and those donors who are able to give each month will become an AdAmi Padi.

You can sign up as a regular donor here. You can change and update your monthly donation anytime.

  • Quarterly AdAmi Padi newsletters with extra stories from young mothers

Examples of the big difference your monthly gift will have

  • £5 a month provides one young mother with a school uniform, stationary and books for a year.

  • £10 a month covers the costs of a young mother’s childcare for a year, allowing her to attend school or training.

  • £15 a month provides a small grant and business training to a young mother so they can set up a business.

  • £25 a month enables a young mother to pursue full-time vocational training in popular local vocations, including tailoring and hairdressing.

Now, more than ever, we need more ‘padis’ (friends) to regularly support our vital work.

Each month, you’ll be helping young mothers like Tiangay

Tiangay (pictured above) was thrown out of school and her family home when  her pregnancy was discovered and she was alienated by her peers and local community. Fast-forward to today and Tiangay’s life is very different, thanks to the AdAmi Project. A scholarship from the project enabled her to return to school and complete her education, while with our family mediation support, she was able to move back in with her family and her relationship with them has gone from strength to strength. Now, she is an admired and respected young woman in her community and an amazing mum!

Tiangay has become a driven grassroots activist, fighting for the rights of other young mothers and vulnerable girls in her community. She is passionate about giving back and helping to lift others up. Tiangay told us; “My community used to see me as a dropout but when they saw me back at school they changed their mind. I felt more important and had a better status in the community. I was less ashamed and I felt proud to be in my school uniform walking to school.”

Tiangay’s leadership in the Community Girl’s Network speaks to her empathy and kindness and to the confidence that the AdAmi project gave her; “We wanted to do something to help them, to pass on all the knowledge and learnings we have been lucky to gain thanks to the AdAmi Project”.
